Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman said on Sunday that consultations have been made with some European customs officials to facilitate the transit of Iranian trucks.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on Sunday about the release of a video of Iranian trucks stopping at the Romanian, Bulgarian and Turkish borders, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said: "Following the spread of COVID-19 in the world, Europe has now become one of the main epicenters for the disease and there have been stringent regulations applied at the borders of the European countries which is also applicable for the European nationals."

"Given these conditions, our embassies in Europe, as well as all the countries of the region and our neighbors, have been active and on alert for the past month and have even informed experts on a 24-hour call to follow up the relative measures,” added Mousavi.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman went on to say that that as soon as the exact locations of those trucks were identified, consultations were started with our relevant embassies and also with customs authorities in Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey to facilitate their crossing.

Iran’s diplomat advised Iranian drivers traveling to other countries to make sure to have contact with Iran’s embassies in the countries of destination promptly if they faced any unusual cases (long queues at customs offices).

The new respiratory virus, known officially as COVID-19, has spread to every continent except Antarctica as well as every single European country.

The number of diagnosed cases globally has surpassed 300,000 with more than 13000 deaths, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Over 95,000 people with diagnosed cases have recovered.
