Iran Press/ Iran News: The spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Abbas Mousavi reacted to the new round of sanctions imposed by US Department of Treasury against some of the Iranian political figures especially members of Iran's Guardian Council saying the Americans are afraid of democracy and a large public turnout in Iran.
US Department of Treasury in a hostile action against Iran put the names of some members of Iran's Guardian Council on the list of sanctioned figures.
Referring to the fact that the US has targeted Iran's election foundation out of pure hopelessness and disappointment, Mousavi added that "Such measures signifies US regime's desperation, frustration and the failure of its maximum pressure policy."
Stressing the fact that US sanctions and economic terrorism orchestrated against more than 83 million Iranian nationals have turned out to be useless, Mousavi addressed US Officials by saying: "Iran's government and nation and all the pillars of the Islamic Republic of Iran do not care for them as well as their insane sanctions and Iran will continue on it current path with strength."
"Iran's strategy against maximum pressure is maximum resistance and these are the Americans who will bow down to Iranian nations' will in the end and they will learn that they should speak respectfully to the resilient people of Iran, not through sanction but with respect", he concluded.
Mousavi's remarks came as Iran's 21 February parliamentary elections are underway all across the Islamic Republic. 205/211/101
