Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with al-Aalam Television Network on Thursday, the foreign ministry spokesman said that Americans are at a quandary as far as their Iran policy is concerned, they are confused and a new agreement with United States under the current circumstances seems impossible.
Seyyed Abbas Mousavi referred to Iran's skilled diplomacy adding: "For two years we negotiated with the Americans in the run-up to the signing of the nuclear accord (JCPOA), but it was the Americans who left the negotiating table, not us."
Commenting on accusations levelled at Tehran by Washington and Riyadh in connection with a series of missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia's oil industry last Saturday (14 September), Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said: "We have influence within the region, but we never ever mount military attacks on our neighbours. If Washington and Riyadh have real evidence -- not fake evidence -- that shows the attack was launched by Iran, and not from the Houthis in Yemen, then the international community should see that evidence. The Houthis in Yemen have already accepted responsibility for the attacks on Aramco oil facilities and they have issued a statement that they did it, but they [America and Saudi Arabia] accuse Iran of being behind the attack. they [America and Saudi Arabia] cannot believe that the oppressed Yemeni people now have the ability to carry out accurate drone strikes deep within the Saudi Territory. The people of Yemen are being subjected to the most vicious and sustained bombardment and airstrikes-- since 2015."
Mousavi referred to Iran's formidable missile strength and said Iranian missiles are part of our red lines pointedly adding: "We are powerful enough to accept responsibility and publicly declare whatever actions we undertake. For example, when we shot down the intruding US drone last June, we immediately made an announcement and declared that we shot down the US drone."
Commenting further Mousavi said: "When the Americans and their allies suffer a setback, the first thing they do, and the easiest option for them, is to accuse Iran, but their accusations are groundless and baseless."
Commenting on Iran's latest efforts to bring the Yemen war to an end, Mousavi said: "We have urged the Ansarullah and Houthi government in Yemen to participate in whatever peace negotiations and peace initiatives which are organised to end the war in Yemen."
Commenting on Syria, the foreign ministry spokesman said all foreign military forces which are present in Syria, but which have not been invited by the government in Damascus, must leave the country immediately.
Seyyed Abbas Mousavi added: "Iran will continue to support the Palestinian resistance groups and Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement. The Israeli regime knows that if they attack Iran or Iranian forces, our response will be immediate, harsh and crushing."
