Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister said the six Persian Gulf littoral countries he visited recently welcomed Iran's G8+1 initiative.

Iran PressIran news:  Holding a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Albusaidi on Monday evening, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the G8+1 initiatives included a meeting of 8 Persian Gulf littoral states and Yemen. 

Amir-Abdollahian referred to Russia's interventionist comments about Iranian territorial integrity and stressed that Iran does not compromise with any side over its territorial integrity. 

He said that the Russian envoy to Tehran was summoned for explanations. Still, the Russian side's justifications were not deemed adequate, stressing that Iran would not tolerate the repetition of such interventionist statements. 

Regarding Yemen and the crisis in the country, Amir-Abdollahian expressed hope that the dialogues would lead to the total end of war and blockade on the Yemeni nation. 

He appreciated Oman for its facilitative role in the regional talks to maintain sustainable peace and security, as well as the efforts to lift the cruel sanctions on the Iranian people.  

The trade between Iran and Oman during the past 22 months has increased more than two and a half times, the Iranian FM said and considered the figure one of the significant records on which the two sides focused in the past months.

He also pointed out that mutual respect for the rights of nations and solving problems based on dialogue and cooperation is the primary key to peace, security, and sustainable development in the region.

Meanwhile, Omani FM Sayyid Badr Albusaidi said: We are witnessing an increase in the volume of commercial exchanges and finding investment opportunities in the private and non-private sectors.

He added: We discussed transportation, we invite all specialists in this field to develop a partnership. Oman's policy is always based on creating a positive role in reducing tensions.

Oman’s Foreign Minister  Sayyid Badr Albusaidi arrived in Tehran on Monday evening and was officially welcomed by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
