Dushanbe (IP) - After launching the visa waiver agreement between Iran and Tajikistan, the first Iranian flight from Tehran landed at Dushanbe airport.

According to the agreement between the two countries, citizens can travel up to 90 days per year with the first visit limited to 30 days.

After the cancellation of visas between Iran and Tajikistan, the first flight from Tehran to Dushanbe landed at Tajikistan International Airport on Sunday.

Iran Press reporters at the arrival of the flight from Tehran in conversation with passengers including tourists, businessmen, and residents found that the cancellation of visa has been well received by the people.

The purpose of canceling visas between Iran and Tajikistan is to expand commercial, economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation.

Cancellation of visas is possible in the first step for people who use the Tehran-Dushanbe air route and vice versa to travel to Iran and Tajikistan.

The memorandum of understanding, which allows citizens of both countries to stay visa-free for up to 30 days, officially took effect on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Initially, the visa cancellation applies exclusively to travelers using the Tehran-Dushanbe air route and vice versa.

The Visa Waiver MoU was first signed during the late President Ebrahim Raisi's administration.
