IP - Gun battles are continuing between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces in three main areas in southern Israel with an Israeli army commander reportedly injured.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Clashes are ongoing at a kibbutz in Karmia and in the cities of Ashkelon and Sderot.

Israeli special forces were brought in to try to retake the sites held by Hamas. Israeli troops have also been called to the scene of an exchange of fire with Hamas fighters near the city of Sderot.

Al-Quds Brigades in a statement said: Our courageous fighters engaged in a fierce confrontation with an occupying army ground force at point-blank range, successfully incapacitating its members in the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, located to the east of Gaza.

Also, Fierce fighting is taking place between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters in various parts of Khan Younis.

Hamas says the ongoing Israeli raid in Jenin will not “succeed in stopping the rising path of resistance”.

The statement added: "The operation in Jenin is an extension of the war waged by the “fascist” Israeli government against the Palestinian people."

Ten Israel Forces, including two senior commanders and several officers, were killed in heavy fighting in Gaza, the army said Wednesday, bringing the death toll in the ground offensive to 115.

Of the 115 Israeli soldiers killed to date in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s ground offensive against Hamas, 20 were killed by so-called friendly fire and other accidents, the Israeli army announced.
