Karachi (IP) – The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, held a meeting with Iran's Consul General, Hassan Norian, and Vice Consul General, Ali Khoshrou, on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, mutual interests, and trade opportunities between the two countries.

Iran PressAsia: During the meeting, Chief Minister Shah emphasized the deep historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran, noting that relations between the two nations have grown stronger. "Sindh has the potential to export meat, fruits, especially Sindhri mangoes and Larkana guavas, to Iran," he added, highlighting the trade opportunities that could benefit both sides.

Iranian Consul General Norian pointed out that the current trade volume between Pakistan and Iran stands at $2 billion. He expressed the desire to raise bilateral trade to $3 billion in the near future, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation.

Both sides agreed to increase the exchange of trade delegations to further bolster economic ties. An important part of their discussion centered on the possibility of launching a ferry service between Karachi and Chabahar, Iran. Chief Minister Shah noted that such a service would provide more convenient access for pilgrims and students traveling between the two countries, fostering greater connectivity and easing transportation.

In addition, Consul General Norian extended an invitation to the Sindh Chief Minister to attend a cultural festival in Iran this November, underscoring the importance of cultural exchange alongside economic cooperation.
