As they’ve done several times before in recent weeks, the relatives of the people held in Gaza have set up a Shabbat table with empty chairs in the Israeli city.

Iran PressWest Asia: Reporting from the scene, Al Jazeera’s Sara Khairat said the stalls providing bread for Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, have been tied with yellow ribbons that represent bringing the families’ loved ones home.

“What’s different here is that this time, today, [they said] there is a message of hope,” Khairat said, about three hours before the expected release of 13 captives.

People were also handing out yellow flowers, which they called the “bouquets of hope”.
