UNSC session proves unwavering support for Iran nuclear deal Ambassador

Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad noted that the UN Security Council session proved unwavering support for Iran nuclear deal.

Iran Press/Europe Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad stated in a Twitter message that "The UN Security Council session proved to be a manifestation of unity among all members-except US- in its unwavering support for Iran’s nuclear deal and its condemnation of US policy."

Baeidinejad also referred to the isolation of the US among its allies, adding that "The US was so isolated even among its allies that Pompeo had to leave the meeting so early."

A UN Security Council meeting to review the Secretary-General's report on the implementation of Resolution 2231 on Iran nuclear deal was held on Tuesday (yesterday).

The ninth UN Secretary-General's report on the status of the resolution was read at the meeting, which was held virtually due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus and the suspension of meetings in New York.

At the meeting, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that the expiration of Iran's arms embargo was a threat to international peace and security.

Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reviewed and clarified the hostile behavior of the United States against the Islamic Republic, adding, "the International Community, and the Council, in particular, must have long ago confronted the US government because of the consequences of its misconduct, including its misguided efforts to launch economic terrorism against the entire Iranian nation, deliberately depriving them of food and medicine, and inflicting irreparable damage to their economy and living standards.
