Oxfam: Int'l community must stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia
Executive Director of Oxfam International José María Vera called on the international community to end arms sales to Saudi Arabia, saying "The only solution to the crisis in Yemen is a permanent ceasefire."
Iran Press/Europe: Vera added that the international community needs to do all it can to put pressure on the parties to the Yemen war to accept a ceasefire and return to useful negotiations aimed at achieving a peaceful solution.
"Commitments made by donor countries do not meet the growing needs of Yemen," Vera said.
He added: "After more than five years of war, Yemen is facing the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world. While only half of the medical centers are operating at full capacity in this country, it is facing the Coronavirus Pandemic."
Referring to the Riyadh meeting, which was aimed at raising funds for Yemen, Executive Director of Oxfam International said: "The voice of Yemeni organizations that are at the forefront of dealing with this crisis has been significantly ignored."
