Bahrain Football Association fined by FIFA

FIFA has fined the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) because its fans booed and whistled the Iranian national anthem at a World Cup qualifying match.

Iran Press/Europe: The penalty came after the Bahraini football fans made a lot of noise during Iran’s national anthem at the Bahrain National Stadium where the qualifying match for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar in Group C was held in the city of Riffa, Bahrain, in mid-October.

The Disciplinary Commission of world football’s governing body fined the association 20,000 Swiss francs, criticizing Bahraini fans for “disturbance during national anthems,” Iran Press reported.

FIFA has also warned the BFA as its future conduct according to article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code that in case any further violations happen, Bahrain will face harsher sanctions.

Having six points, Iran is now in third place in Group C.
