A senior aide to the Iranian foreign minister, and the French president's special envoy to Syria have met and conferred in Paris, focusing on the latest developments in Syria.

Europe/ According to an Iran Press report, a senior aide to the Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi-Ansari arrived in Paris on Wednesday night for meetings and consultations with senior French officials.

On Thursday afternoon, Jaberi-Ansari heading an Iranian delegation, arrived at the Elysee Palace for a meeting with Special envoy of French President Emmanuel Macron on the Syrian issue, François Sénémaud. It is also worth noting that Sénémaud is a former French ambassador to Tehran.

The two diplomats discussed the latest events on the ground in Syria, as well as the latest diplomatic efforts to bring peace to the war-torn country.

Earlier last week, Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani met the speaker of Russia's state Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin in southwest city of Volgograd.

Larijani said Iran and Russia have played a remarkable role in combating terrorism in the region, adding that terrorists in Syria are taking their last breaths, ParsToday reported.

Earlier, on Thursday morning, the senior advisor to Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi-Ansari had a working breakfast meeting with Philippe Bonnecarrère, French Senator and President of France-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as Mrs. Delphine O, a Member of French National Assembly and President of France-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group. 

Jaberi-Ansari discussed expansion of bilateral ties, and business and economic ties, with the two senior French parliamentarians.

Senior aide to the Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi-Ansari is currently on a diplomatic tour of European capitals, consulting with European diplomats on latest issues concerning Syria, Yemen, and the Middle East.

Recently on 7th September 2018, Iran, Turkey, Russia reaffirm joint commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria till full eradication of terrorism in the country.

They reaffirm determination to continue cooperation until full eradication of terrorist groups in Syria.

Earlier on 3rd September 2018, "Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Damascus with a political delegation at the official invitation of Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem for talks and consultations with his counterpart, as well as with Syrian President Bashar Assad and Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis," Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The most important topics for discussions were the latest developments in Syria and bilateral relations.

This visit takes place a week after the Iranian defense minister travelled to the Arab country and on the eve of the meeting of the Presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey, which took place on 7th September in Tehran.
