Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on his Twitter account that the pandemic of coronavirus was an opportunity for the US government to stop its addiction to sanctions.

Iran Press/Iran newsZarif stated in a Tweet on Friday that the US government missed the opportunity “to kick its addiction to sanctions.”

Despite US sanctions, Iran has made significant progress in fighting the pandemic, thanks to its human and scientific resources, and friends abroad,” he wrote.

COVID-19 was opportunity for US to kick its addiction to sanctions. Instead, it will now live in infamy in the memory of our people,” Zarif added.

Following the outbreak of coronavirus, despite pressure from the international community including world leaders on the US government to lift its illegal sanctions against Iran and other countries, Washington has not only refused to lift its sanctions but in some cases has increased its sanctions against Iran.
