Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Vice President for Science and Technology said the new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based method for diagnosing COVID-19, which is an achievement of AI knowledge-based companies of the country, is more accurate than test kits.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking in the ceremony of unveiling the new COVID-19 Detecting System in Tehran, Sorena Sattari said: "Fortunately, the ecosystem that we have developed in the Biotech area over the years has been very helpful to the country."

Sattari explained that two companies have received approval to produce 250,000 Coronavirus test kits, so 100,000 diagnostic kits are currently produced per week.

Iran, self-sufficient in diagnostic kits

"In the field of two to three-hour diagnostic kits, good things have happened in the country, and we no longer need to import it," he added.

Sattari added that two knowledge-based companies are active in the field of ventilator production, which they used to export to other countries.

"This is the result of the continuous efforts of knowledge-based companies, which has made it easy for us to manufacture ventilators and hospital equipment today," said the Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology.

He also said: "Due to the shortcomings in the field of masks, some companies have run mask production lines, which we will soon present to the industry and the private sector."

Iran’s Vice President for science and technology affairs declared that these achievements would not have been possible without the cooperation of all organizations, saying: "Iran’s Ministry of Health, doctors, and nurses are at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus."

"We hope to be able to prevent the spread of the disease by the investments we have made in health and knowledge-based areas over the years," he added.

VP referred to the new Artificial Intelligence-based method for diagnosing COVID-19, saying: "We have developed a new way to diagnose COVID-19 based on AI, which is the result of the efforts of knowledge-based companies, and I want to thank them all."
