High turnout in election forces US to put aside maximum pressure: Iran FM

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister said a huge turnout in the parliamentary election would force the US to put aside its maximum pressure policy and accept that Trump's policy had failed.

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters on Monday on the sidelines of a meeting with students of the Iranian Army University that "High turnout of the electorate (voters) is certainly a possibility. A maximum turnout by the voters can propel the US to abandon its policy of maximum pressure, and accept that Trump's policy has failed and the US should compensate Iran for damage, drop the sanctions and return to 5+1 Group."

The FM, referring to the US plan to bolster economic terrorism against Iran, noted, "These reviews are being carried out by the Foreign Ministry and we made recommendations to the Supreme National Security Council and the Council will decide."

According to an Iran Press report, Zarif also answered a question about the EU foreign policy chief's visit to Iran and said: "We told them all their non-adherence because they asked for a visit and we had to hear what they had to say."
