Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said in a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister that Tehran and New Delhi can play an important role in controlling and managing regional crises by strengthening relations at all levels.

Iran Press/Iran News: Referring to the historic and cultural commonalities as well as the long history of relations between the two countries, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani cited sanctions and terrorism as two of America's strategies against independent states, adding that by working together to eliminate these two threats, new horizons of progress could be drawn and realized, relying on the indigenous capability of the countries in the region.

During the meeting with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday afternoon, Shamkhani added: "Today, terrorism and extremism are the most common threats to all countries in the region. By continuing our joint efforts and developing regional mechanisms, we can prevent foreigners from intervening in the region which usually takes place under the pretext of the fight against terrorism."
