Iran wins Junior World Kabaddi Championship

Iranian national Kabaddi team won the title of the first edition of Junior World Kabaddi Championships in Kish Island.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran's team defeated Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Malaysia in the group stage before overpowering Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh in quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.

Pakistan and Bangladesh jointly received the bronze medal of this event.

On the final match of the event on Friday, Iran gained a commanding 42-22 victory over Kenya.

The competition was held from Nov. 11 to 15 with the participation of 13 countries in the Persian Gulf island of Kish.

The tournament features U-20 players from around the world as a motive to give recognition to future Kabaddi stars.

Fourteen nations have been announced as participants in the 1st ever Junior Kabaddi World Cup. Kish Island played host to Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Denmark, Turkmenistan, Kenya, Pakistan, Uganda, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.204/205
