Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutters stressed the necessity of achieving solutions for global challenges and threats within UN chart and the international law framework.

Iran Press/Europe: In a meeting held on Monday in Geneva, the two sides also confirmed their commitment to strengthening the United Nations’ central role in global affairs.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said that "a detailed exchange of opinions on most pressing issues on the international agenda, including the situation in Syria, has taken place."

The talks, which were attended by the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen were held behind closed doors.
