EU must support JCPOA solidly: Top European diplomat

The newly chosen High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy called for Europeans' solid and full support of the JCPOA.

Iran PressEurope: The newly chosen High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at the news conference held after Council of Europe meeting said: "I personally raised the issue of Iran, since we had a meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) held in Vienna on Friday 6 December 2019 chaired by Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmidt in Vienna."

According to Iran Press, Borrell went on to say that the event showed that all of the participants supported Iran's Nuclear Deal and called for saving it.

"The generally unified position is important for us", stressed Borrell.

The newly chosen High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy also went on to say that he had reminded in a note just after the meeting that keeping JCPOA alive is considered as the collective decision.

However, he warned that if the existing negative trend over the nuclear procedure would not be reversed the deal would no longer survive, However, he stressed the European Union and the participants of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Friday are completely backing it.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear nonproliferation agreement reached with Iran in 2015.
