The number of Turkish tourists entering Iran has increased by 35 percent compared to the same period last year.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Vali Teymouri said: "The number of tourists entering Iran from Turkey has increased by as much as 35 percent compared to the same period last year."

During a meeting with Turkish Cultural and Tourism Advisor Muhammad Taskin, Vali Teymouri emphasized the necessity of boosting tourism between the two countries, Iran Press reported.

Teymouri added: "Holding a joint tourism meeting in collaboration with the private and public sectors of both countries can provide the impetus and the necessary platform to boost tourism between the two countries. It was also agreed that a joint meeting of the private sectors of Iranian and Turkish tourism companies to be held in Tehran in January next year."

Turkish Cultural and Tourism Advisor also expressed readiness to attend the International Tourism Exhibition in Tehran in February 2020.

Seven million eight hundred thousand foreign tourists visited Iran last year (2018) and it is expected this figure will increase to over 10 million tourists this year.
