Iran and France discuss nuclear deal, supply of Iranian oil

Iran and France hold intensive talks discussing ways to fulfill Iran’s interests in the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the supply of Iranian oil.

Iran Press/Europe: The 10-hour meeting between senior Iranian and French experts in Paris was chaired by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and with the attendance of Iran's deputy oil minister and deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iran.

During the talks, two sides reviewed details of the possible scenarios to promote Iranian and French presidents’ initiatives.

Both sides are set to continue efforts on the scenarios, to extend their consultations with the related parties, and to maintain negotiations at various levels.

Araghchi is scheduled to hold meeting with French officials.

An economic delegation is also accompanying Araghchi during this trip.

Export of oil and restoring banking ties are Iran's basic demand from the parties to JCPOA.

Commenting on recent talks in Europe, Araghchi said Iran's requests are clear if Europe and other parties want Iran to return to full implementation of the JCPOA they should fulfill Iran's demand with regard to selling oil and restoring banking ties.

Tehran proposed to Europe to buy Iran's oil by receiving permission from the US. Otherwise, they should give Letters of Credit or exports credits equal to the amount of oil we have to sell, he said.

Araghchi noted that Iran needs to work hard to deprive the US of creating international consensus against Iran like what they have done in nuclear program and was defeated by JCPOA in 2015.
