Coronavirus outbreak in China

As of Tuesday evening, at least 3,194 people have died, all but 213 in mainland China.

Iran PressAsia: There have been at least 118 cases of coronavirus confirmed by lab tests as of Tuesday evening, including 9 deaths.

Reports of new infections outside of China have accelerated in recent days, outpacing new cases in China for the first time. China still accounts for most of the cases reported overall since the beginning of the outbreak.

Sustained local transmission of the virus has been reported in South Korea, Japan, Italy, raising fears of a global pandemic.

The C.D.C.(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), has advised against all non-essential travel to South Korea, China, Italy, and the agency has warned older and at-risk travelers to avoid Japan.

Several people in the United States are infected despite having no known connection to previous cases, which suggests local, the person-to-person spread of the virus. C.D.C. officials warned on Tuesday that future outbreaks are almost inevitable, given the number of cases around the world.

The Coronavirus outbreak began in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and appears to have been originated from non-domestic animals. Chinese officials now admit that the virus probably spread in Wuhan in November or even earlier.

More than 3,100 people have died and over 93,000 have been infected worldwide. The vast majority of cases are in China.
