The US President Donald Trump on Thursday again backed the unrest in Iran.

Iran Press/America: At a meeting of the US Cabinet, Trump described the vandals as "libertarian people", while echoing delusive and baseless allegations against Iran.

Trump went on to make ridiculous claims that the US stands by the Iranian people.

In recent days, many US officials, including President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who have repeatedly backed tough illegal sanctions against the Iranian nation, have been sympathetic to the Iranian people.

The US officials behave as if they support the Iranians, but Washington's unilateral and outrageous sanctions, which include basic items, and even medicines and medical supplies, have caused many problems for the Iranian people.

On November 18, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif slammed US officials' claims on supporting the Iranian nation and branded it a shameful lie.

"A regime which is committing economic terrorism and denying food and medicine from the elderly and sick people is never in a position to have the outrageous claim of supporting the Iranian people," he said on Monday in reaction to cunning statements by US secretary of state and officials of certain European countries about recent unrests in Iran after an increase in petrol price.

He said that protest was the right of people which is also recognized in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran and added there was no need to remind it by the regimes that are imposing economic pressures even in the fields of food and medicine to secure their illegitimate goals.

"[US Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo shall first be accountable to the terrorist acts and crimes against humanity and Iranians," he said.

Zarif also criticized the countries that have shown no reaction against economic terrorism of the US and said, "They are expressing field and political support to riots to cover their inability."

"They shall be responsible for the repercussions of their dangerous instigations," said Iran's top diplomat.
