Shiraz (IP) - In Shiraz, the air at the tomb of Saadi Shirazi was thick with the reverberations of ancient melodies and the verses of one of Iran's most cherished poets. It was Saadi Day, a cultural observance that brings together admirers of the poet from across the nation and even from distant shores.

Iran PressIran news: Saadi, who is renowned for his works "Bostan" and "Golestan," had a profound understanding of human nature that he gleaned from his extensive travels around the world. His insights into humanity resonate in his poetry, giving his words a timeless quality that continues to draw interest globally.

The highlight of this year's commemoration was a performance by Salar Aghili, a prominent figure in Iranian traditional music. Known for his deep connection to the nation's musical roots, Aghili’s renditions of Saadi's poems infused the event with a sense of timelessness and emotional depth. His voice, echoing through the historic site, created a mesmerizing atmosphere that seemed to bridge the gap between the ancient and the contemporary.

The event was attended by figures such as Daria Urs, the head of the Higher Institute of Culture, Language and History and a former Turkish ambassador to Iran, along with Yaser Ahmadvand, the deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance of Iran. 

Designated as Saadi Commemoration Day, May 1st marks the anniversary of the writing of "Golestan," one of Saadi’s major works. This date serves not only as a tribute to Saadi himself but also as a celebration of Persian literary culture, highlighting the enduring appeal of classical Persian literature.

The success of Saadi's works lies in their universal themes and deep philosophical insights, which have transcended geographical and cultural boundaries to touch the hearts of readers around the world.
