Iran Press/Iran news: According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake was registered on Friday 8 May 00:48 time near Damavand in Tehran Province.
The epicenter of the earthquake is reported to be the border of Mazandaran and Tehran provinces, near Damavand.
The earthquake epicenter is located at longitude: 52.05, latitude: 35.78 and its 7 km in depth.
It is said that people in Tehran capital of Iran felt earthquake as a severe one.
The head of Iran's EMS Pir-Hussein Kolivand said that the special operations team is present and ready at the epicenter of the earthquake. At 1:34 a.m local time, two aftershocks with a magnitude of 2.5 occurred.
