Tibet (IP) - A powerful earthquake has rocked the high-altitude regions of western China near Mount Everest, leaving at least 95 people dead and causing widespread devastation in Tibet.

Iran Press/Asia: The tremor, which also affected parts of neighboring Nepal, has trapped many under debris as dozens of aftershocks continue to shake the remote region.

Rescue efforts are underway in the disaster-hit areas, with workers climbing mounds of rubble and using ladders to navigate the ruins of collapsed homes. Videos released by China’s Ministry of Emergency Management reveal harrowing scenes of survivors being carried on stretchers, stepping cautiously over debris from crumbled buildings.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that at least 130 people were injured on the Chinese side of the border, citing the vice mayor of Shigatse city. Over 1,000 homes have been damaged in the region, known for its barren landscapes and sparse population.

Footage from CCTV shows streets strewn with building debris, some of which crushed parked cars. The quake has left communities scrambling for aid and shelter, as emergency services face the daunting challenge of reaching remote villages.
