Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader has denounced the US government's unjust measures against the Iranian nation.

Iran PressIran news: Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard said the Iranian people will never back down in the face of US' plots and pressures.

Speaking to a huge crowd of Friday prayers worshippers and the faithful, Hojjat-ol-Islam Aboutorabifard pointed to the recent record rainfall in the country over the past two weeks that caused serious flooding and damage in many areas, saying that the Iranian nation alongside the government, armed forces and other rescue and relief organizations and with God’s help and mercy will overcome the current challenges, Mehr News Agency reported.

The senior cleric highlighted that Washington should be aware that the great people of Iran, who have proved their unity in the face of hardships all these years and have protected the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, will never surrender to the pressures and schemes of others.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojjat-ol-Islam Aboutorabifard pointed to the designation of this year as the year of "boosting manufacturing and production" by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and stressed that manufacturing and production are the keys to overcoming the current economic difficulties and turning the country into a major economic powerhouse in Asia. He said manufacturing is the key to becoming a powerful and advanced economy.

Referring to the remarks made by US economists, he said Iran has rich natural resources, has high tourism capacities, and over 2,000 kilometres of coastline connecting the country to the oceans and high seas, making Iran an exceptional country.

Aboutorabifard, further, called on people to join the relief operations to help their flood-stricken compatriots overcome the current hardships as soon as possible.

While the rescue teams, armed forces and the people have been busy providing relief aid to the flood-hit people, the US sanctions have blocked all accounts of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and have barred Tehran from receiving foreign aid, according to Iranian officials.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani decried the “unprecedented crime” of banning the delivery of foreign relief for flood victims in Iran.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has also slammed the restrictive measures, saying the US is waging “economic terrorism” by blocking financial channels of humanitarian aid to Iran.
