Iran envoy: Swedish resolution, political motivation

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva said Swedish draft resolution against Iran in the Human Rights Council, was non-constructive and politically motivated.

Iran Press/Iran newsEsmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, in his speech to the Human Rights Council, advised the Swedish government to put an end to this harmful and counter-productive against the Iranian nation, Iran Press reported.

The Human Rights Council on Friday approved the Swedish draft resolution demanding expansion of mission of UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran for another year.

Baghaei Hamaneh stated that the resolution and the mission of the Special Rapporteur only reinforce the illusory stereotypes against Iran, and it is a pity that the time and budget of the Human Rights Council are spent on such stereotyping by a small number against a UN member. 104/213
