Iran's large-scale military exercises, code named 'The Defenders of Velayat Skies 2019' entered its second day in Isfahan in central Iran.

Iran Press/ Iran news: According to the official spokesman of the drills, Air Force General, Alireza Angizeh, on the second day and the operational phase of the military exercises, Iranian fighter jets fired upgraded Maverick missiles, as well as precision smart bombs known as 'Ghassed', with their pin-point accuracy, hitting a range of ground targets, destroying them all.

According to an Iran Press report, Air Force General, Alireza Angizeh added: "In today's exercises, ultra light military aircraft and a range of offensive unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were used by the Iranian Air Force for reconnaisance purposes, as well as destroying simulated enemy targets on a large scale."

Furthermore, according to the second-in-command of the Iranian Air Force, Brigadier General Amir Vahedi, various types of fighter aircraft, fighter jets, and transport planes were put through their paces in the military exercises.

The commander further added that the Shahid Babaie Air base will play host to the aircrafts, which will include 'a variety of fighter jets, bombers, heavy and semi-heavy transport aircraft, refuelling aircraft, interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).'

He further noted that in these exercises, the strategic bomber planes Sukhoi Su-24 and F-4, F5, F7, MiG-29, F-14, the Saegheh (Thunderbolt), Boeing 707 and 747 refuelling aircraft, C130 transport planes, supporting aircraft, as well as a range of UAVs equipped with high-precision missiles and long-range smart rockets were used extensively. The fighter jets and other aircraft were transported to Shahid Bababaei Air base several days ago, and took part in the military exercises.

The two-day drills kicked off on Thursday in vast regions of the central province of Isfahan, and the military exercises will wrap up today (Friday).  203/ 211/103
