Iranian president Hassan Rouhani will depart for Ankara on Wednesday to take part in the 5th supreme council for strategic cooperation between Iran and Turkey.

Asia: Iranian president's deputy chief of staff for communications and information, Parviz Esmaeili, made the announcement on Tuesday, adding that president Rouhani will be accompanied by a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, including several cabinet ministers, for his two-day visit to Ankara, Iran Press reported.

Esmaeili said the main purpose of president Rouhani’s visit to Ankara is to take part in the 5th supreme council for strategic cooperation between Iran and Turkey, to be chaired by the presidents of the two countries.

Esmaeili noted the initiative to set up the supreme council was taken during president Rouhani’s visit to Turkey back in 2014, during which the two presidents set a trade target of $30 billion.
