Iran's Parliamentary Friendship Delegation met with the North Korean officials in Pyongyang on Saturday.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, senior parliamentarian and former Chairman of the National Security and  Foreign Policy Commission of the Iran's parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi met and conferred with Director of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Supreme Assembly of North Korea Ri Su Yong (former Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Korea) in Pyongyang on Saturday. 

Emphasizing on the importance of expanding ties with North Korea, Boroujerdi said that in the post-Revolution era, the bilateral friendly ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea have been strengthened considerably.

Furthermore in an interview with IRIB, senior parliamentarian Boroujerdi went on to say that the two sides discussed the latest regional developments including the crisis in  Syria, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, together with Saudi-imposed war on Yemen as well as other current crises in the region.

Boroujerdi explained further that the two sides share a lot in their political stances, adopting very similar positions.

An Iranian cleric Hojjat-ol-Islam Seyyed Javad Hosseini Kia who is also a member of Iranian Friendship Delegation told IRIB correspondent that sanctions were among the most discussed topic between the two sides; both countries have been the targets of cruel US sanctions.

He also said that the two sides emphasized the development of cooperation between Pyongyang and Tehran, especially in political and economic areas, discussing ways of confronting unilateral and unlawful American sanctions and other unilateral measures of Washington.

Iran and North Korea boost their ties

Earlier, the Iranian parliamentary friendship group had met with President of the Supreme Assembly of Korea, the Higher Education Minister and head of the North Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group.

They also visited North Korea's Kim Il-sung University during which the head of the university and Iranian officials discussed about exchanging students between the two countries.

Alaeddine Boroujerdi and the accompanying delegation also met with Deputy Foreign Trade Minister of North Korea yesterday.

At the meetings, Iranian Ambassador to North Korea Mohsen Emadi, accompanied Iran's parliamentary friendship group.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in North Korea on Wednesday.
