Venezuela (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Iran PressAmerica: The relations between Iran and Venezuela date back more than 100 years; yet in the 1960s, the Latin American country's ties with Iran developed with oil cooperation.

On Wednesday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian entered Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, and was welcomed by his Nicaraguan counterpart.

After the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution in 1979, Venezuela was among the first countries to recognize the new Iranian government.

Iran and Venezuela have been under the US' sanctions and have a common point of view on issues, such as multilateralism, the need to confront the US' illegal and unilateral acts, Iran's right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and the recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people.
