Baghdad (IP) - The Iranian ambassador to Iraq said that the Iraqis have welcomed holding the anniversary ceremony of the resistance martyrs Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mohammad Kazem Al Sadegh in an interview with Iran Press said in the days leading up to the anniversary of the martyrs of the resistance, Iraqis from different walks of life are holding various programs to keep the memory of the martyrs of General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis alive.

The ambassador of Iran said Martyr Qassem Soleimani is in the hearts of the Iraqis, because he dedicated his life to Islam, resistance, and fighting against arrogance, therefore the whole Muslim world is grateful to Martyr Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

The ceremony for the third anniversary of the martyrs of resistance was held on Friday evening at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic in Baghdad with the presence of Iraqi political and religious figures.

Lt. General Soleimani was assassinated along with his longtime comrade Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

The top Iranian general was visiting Iraq at the invitation of Iraq’s leader to deliver an Iranian reply to a Saudi message through Iraq.

He left Tehran for Baghdad on January 3, 2020, and arrived at midnight at Baghdad airport, where al-Muhandis was waiting to receive him. After a short exchange of greetings, the two men left the airport but as they moved out of the airport in their motorcade, they were targeted by a number of missiles launched by an American drone in the attack ordered directly by former US President Donald Trump.
