Afghanistan's former president, Hamed Karzai, has stressed that neighbouring countries, such as China, Russia and Iran must be included in efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan.

Asia: Pointing to the important role Iran, Russia and China play in the Afghan peace process, "Hamed Karzai" reiterated: "Peace efforts in Afghanistan will be ineffective without the cooperation of neighbouring countries," Iran Press reported.

Afghanistan's former president also emphasised that negotiations is the only way to put an end to the conflict in the war-torn country and said peace talks in Moscow is a positive step that will definitely bring about significant results in the Afghan Peace Process.

Pointing to Taliban as a reality in the region, Karzai added: " The continued presence of US troops in Afghanistan is not in the interest of this country.

He also accused the United States and its allies of imposing the war on Afghanistan and destroying the country.

America's longest war continues to threaten lives and kill people in Afghanistan after 17 years. According to the United Nations, the number of civilians killed in a first half of 2018 reached an eight-year high.

More than 15 years after US-led military aggression on Afghanistan, the Taliban and other terrorist groups such as Daesh Takfiri terrorists are still making gains in Afghanistan,  and are far from being defeated.

During the Moscow talks on November 9, the Taliban said withdrawal of foreign military forces from Afghanistan was the only way of bringing peace and security to the country as well as the wider region.
