Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani said despite US attempts to cut-off Iran's oil exports, threatening to reduce them to zero, Tehran will continue to sell its oil to numerous buyers.

Iran Press/Iran News: “The Americans thought they could completely cut-off Iran’s oil exports, but now they have realized this is not possible”, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at a weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

President Hassan Rouhani added: "America has chosen the wrong path in sanctioning Iran and will be defeated in the end."

President Rouhani's remarks were a reaction to waivers the US granted to major buyers of Iranian crude oil after re-imposing sanctions against Tehran, according to an Iran Press report.

Rouhani said Iran will definitely defeat the US restrictive measures, and continue with its oil sales.

Rouhani further emphasized that US sanctions won't affect Iran’s oil sales, saying, “We have so many ways to sell our oil, the sanctions are useless and ineffective.”

President Rouhani emphasized: "We have many ways to sell our oil so their sanctions are ineffective. We sent a very clear signal to the United States that we can sell our oil and keep our financial ties with the rest of world."

He also noted the Americans will definitely face defeat in their attempts to pressure the Iranian government.

Additionally, he said the US main objective in re-imposing sanctions on Iran is to damage the nation’s independence, and that the only way to counter the bans is to rely on our own domestic capacities.

The United States announced reinstatement of sanctions targeting Iran’s oil industry on November 4. In the second round of sanctions against Iran, US targeted 700 individuals, banks, aircraft, ships and companies tied to Iran’s energy and financial industries.

But the US government has agreed to let eight countries continue buying Iranian oil after it reimposes sanctions on Tehran. This comes as Iran says the waivers show its oil cannot be withdrawn from the market.

They came six months after Washington scrapped the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), despite international objections.
