Iranian ambassador to japan Morteza Rahmani Movahed and President of the House of Councillors of Japan Chuichi Date in a meeting on Thursday emphasized on developing mutual relations.

Iran PressAsia: President of the House of Councillors of Japan Chuichi Date highlighting the importance of developing ties with Iran, said both countries’ parliaments play major role in promoting cooperation, IRNA  reported.

Japan's President of the House of Councillors extended an invitation to Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to have a trip to Japan. "We hope this trip help developing relations between two countries", Chuichi Date told Iranian ambassador.

President of the House of Councillors of Japan referred to the upcoming 90th anniversary of diplomatic ties between two countries and expressed hope for taking major expansion in that case.

On his part, Iranian ambassador in Tokyo Morteza Rahmani Movahed underlined importance of parliaments’ role in developing cooperation and called for broadening parliamentary cooperation.

Reinforcing parliamentary relations is an important factor in developing friendly relations between two countries, he said.

Japan is among those countries which have been exempted from the US sanctions against Iran and can buy Iran's oil.

Japan leading crude oil wholesaler JXTG Holdings Incorporation announced it is preparing to resume imports from Iran after the US issued a waiver for Tokyo to continue its purchases of oil from the Islamic Republic.

On Monday, the administration of US President Donald Trump restored all Iran sanctions that had been lifted in 2015 after a nuclear deal was signed between the country and the five permanent members of the Security Council – the US, Britain, France, Russia and China – as well as Germany.
