Three terrorist groups have been disbanded in southwestern Iran, according to Iran's Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi.

Iran Press/Iran news: Visiting Shalamcheh border crossing in southwestern Iran, Alavi told reporters on Tuesday that 15 members of various terrorist cells have been arrested, adding that the terrorists acknowledged they were planning attacks against Arbaeen pilgrims ( Arbaeen is a mourning ceremony commemorating 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, the Chief of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

Shalamche border crossing is 15 km away from Iranian city of Khorramshahr, right on the border with Iraq. Every year tens of millions of Muslims from around the world, including Iran, pay a visit to the holy city of Karbala on the occasion of Arbaeen to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (peace be upon him).

Iran's Intelligence Minister, Mahmoud Alavi said: "The US along with the Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia are trying to make trouble for Islamic Iran, and to this end, they are investing in separatist and Takfiri movements, helping and encouraging them to commit terrorist acts. Out of every 100 in Iran, 99 terrorist plots have been identified and busted, which is an unprecedented figure in the world of intelligence agencies.

Earlier, the Head of the Radio and Television Union of Islamic Countries (IRTVU), Hojjat-ol-Islam Ali Karimian said the Americans were pursuing certain plots and schemes in Iraq to cut off Iran's hand from the country, but Arbaeen will scupper and neutralize their plots.
