The United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres has strongly condemned Saturday's terrorist attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, expressing condolences to the families of victims of the terror outrage.

Iran Press- America/ Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for Secretary-General, in a statement issued on Saturday, said: “The Secretary-General condemns the attack today in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz, which reportedly left many dead, including children”.

“He expresses his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Iran. He wishes those injured a speedy recovery,” continued the statement.

Four gunmen, dressed in military uniforms, opened fire at the crowd from behind the stand. The shooting lasted for about 10 minutes, Mehr news agency reported. 

Iranian forces killed three of the terrorists in a clash after the attack, and a remaining terrorist died in hospital.

Most of the casualties of Ahvaz terrorist attack are civilians.

Gunmen opened fire on people from behind a viewing stand during  a Saturday morning parade in Ahwaz, a city in southwestern Iran. At least 25 people were martyred and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning's terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran.

The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaziyeh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack. Also on its "A'magh" website, the Daesh terrorist group (also known as ISIS) has accepted responsibility for the Ahwaz attack.

Also, the foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Saturday that sponsors and supporters of terrorism and violence and their apologists and mouthpieces cannot cover up their direct involvement in backing anti-Iran terrorists through false rhetoric and claims.
