Damascus (IP) - Iran's foreign minister says Tehran is "closer than ever" to a deal through Vienna talks. 

Iran PressIran News: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday that Tehran and world powers are closer than ever to reaching an agreement with other negotiating parties in the Vienna talks aimed at reviving the 2015 Iran deal.

During a press conference in Damascus alongside Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, Iran's Foreign Minister also said: "If the United States is realistic, we are ready to finalize the agreement in the near future in the presence of foreign ministers at the Joint Commission in Vienna."

After meeting his Syrian counterpart in Damascus, Amir-Abdollahian added Tehran welcomes new talks between Syria and certain Arab countries.

He said: "I had good and important talks with President Bashar al-Assad, Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, and the Head of the Syrian National Security Office in Damascus Ali Mamluk. We discussed the latest bilateral, regional and international developments," the Iranian foreign minister said.

He welcomed the new approach of some Arab countries in normalizing relations with Syria.

"We discussed some issues in the region, including the situation in Yemen, and we welcome the lifting of the humanitarian siege and establishing a ceasefire and talks on Yemen," Amir-Abdollahian reiterated.

He noted that developing tourism between Iran and Syria was one of the points agreed upon by the two sides.
