Rome (IP) - The continuation of the coronavirus pandemic has hit Italy's tourist industry such that hundreds working in the famous Italian hotels were dismissed.

Iran PressEurope: About 200 employees were dismissed from four top Italian hotels gathered before the Ministry of Economic Development in Rome, the capital, demanding their return to work.

Sheraton, Majestic, Cicerone, Palatino hotels announced that they dismissed their employees due to the lack of foreign and even Italian tourists. 

164 of the dismissed were used to working at Sheraton Hotel. 

The sharp decline in foreign tourist influx in Italy during the past two years has brought its tourism industry to its knees.

Hotels and restaurants are among the industries that suffered the most from the coronavirus pandemic.
