Berlin (IP) - Commemorating Day of Nizami Ganjavi, a ceremony entitled "Nizami Ganjavi, a pioneer in storytelling," was held in the German capital Berlin with the cooperation of the Iranian House and embassy.

Iran PressEurope: Jamaluddin Abu Mohammad Elias ibn-Yūsuf ibn-Zakkī, also known as Nizami Ganjavi, was an Iranian poet and novelist living in the 12th century.

Makhzanat al-Asrar, Hafte Peykar, Khosrow and Shirin, Sharafnameh, Leily and Majnoon, and Divan Hakim Nizami are famous works of the Iranian poet which all are in Farsi.

Nizami Mausoleum is considered the symbol of Ganja. It is located at the entrance of Ganja in Ahmedli village on the east part of Ganja in the west of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mahmoud Farazandeh, the Iranian ambassador to Germany, said at the beginning of the meeting, which was held in person and virtually with a group of Iranian Iranologists and intellectuals.

The poet is one of the few ones who were able to show pre and post-Islamic Iran in his works.

March 12 is the day of commemorating Nizami in the Iranian calendar, and the National Commission for UNESCO-Iran awards the Hakim Nizami Prize to selected figures of culture and art in various fields.
