Tehran (IP) - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the development of non-fossil fuels, such as nuclear energy, which is increasingly used in the world and countries in the region, and wind and solar power should be taken seriously.

Iran PressIran news: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks on the occasion of National Tree Planting Day.

Iran’s Leader planted two saplings on Sunday in the yard of his office on the occasion of the National Tree Planting Day.

The Leader then called the tree planting a completely religious and revolutionary act, adding: "Of course, the maintenance of trees is also a very important task that must be observed."

The Leader of the Revolution emphasized the plant as a sedative of the soul and maintainer of the human body and a source of sustenance for human beings and emphasized: "For this reason, the destruction of forests and the environment and vegetation is the destruction of national interests, and the destruction of part of the forests for construction, except in emergencies, is definitely to the detriment of the nation."

Rejecting the misbeliefs about the preservation of the environment, he considered this issue as one of the most fundamental issues of the country and said: "One of the new tasks in protecting the environment is to protect the two great riches, "water," and "soil," and to avoid wasting them."

"In Islam, hunting is allowed only if you need food; otherwise, it is illegal, and even travel for such hunting is forbidden; therefore, illegal hunting should be prevented, and wildlife protection should be taken seriously," he added.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also stressed the need to develop clean energy: "The development of non-fossil energy, such as nuclear energy, which is increasingly used in the world and the countries of our region are moving towards it, as well as wind and solar energy, must be taken seriously."

National Tree Planting Day is when individuals and groups throughout the country are encouraged to plant and care for trees.

Every year, just before the Iranian New Year, millions of Iranians plant trees to mark the tree-planting week and hail the coming of spring.

National Tree Planting Day is annually celebrated on the fifteenth day of Esfand, the last month on the Iranian calendar, which usually corresponds with March 6.

The day marks the beginning of the National Week of Natural Resources (March 6-13).
