Vienna (IP) - Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations Based in Vienna says the talks over reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA) have almost finished.

Iran PressEurope: In a tweet on Thursday, Mikhail Ulyanov wrote: "Yesterday marked 11 months since the #ViennaTalks started. A long and gruelling marathon. Now it is almost over."

Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015. Still, the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

The eighth round of sanctions talks begun in Vienna on December 27 is ongoing in Vienna, but without the US after a short break.

At the same time that the negotiations are approaching the ultimate point, the West has enhanced media efforts to frame its desired narrative about the relevant developments, from the failure of the talks to the devaluation of the remaining issues in the negotiations.

Negotiations in Vienna have progressed due to the initiatives of the Iranian negotiating team. Still, President Joe Biden's reluctance to compensate for the former US administration's illegal actions has cast doubt on Washington's seriousness in returning to the JCPOA and has prolonged the negotiation process.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible country, has repeatedly stated that, given that the United States has violated the JCPOA agreement, it is Washington that must return to the agreement by lifting sanctions. The implementation of US commitments needs to be verified.
