Tehran (IP) – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says the siege and military strikes are not the solutions to the Yemeni crisis, pointing out that such actions will increase tensions in the region.

Iran PressIran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh reiterated that Iran has always supported the initiative of a political solution based on ending the siege of the Yemeni people, ending the war, non-interference in internal affairs, and preserving the country's territorial integrity, and emphasizes preventing the escalation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.

"Iran has always emphasized that the solution to any regional crises is not resorting to war and violence, and only in a calm atmosphere and away from the continuation of tension and the cycle of violence, we can hope for peace and stability in the region," he noted.

Underlining that the Yemeni issue is a Yemeni affair, he announced Iran's readiness to cooperate and participate in any initiative to end the seven-year war.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the UAE, and some other countries, has launched a military invasion on Yemen since March 2015, laying a land, sea, and air siege on the country. The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed more than 17,000 Yemenis, injured tens of thousands, and displaced millions.
