Iran, leading in traditional medicine

The Iranian traditional medicine is based on four humors of phlegm (Balgham), blood (Dam), yellow bile (Safrā'), and black bile (Saudā').

The four humors are based on the teachings of Abu Ali Sina, the renowned Iranian scholar and physician, into an elaborate medical system.

Iran is a leading country in traditional medicine with thousands of years of background in the field. Recently, the country has initiated a project to use the capacities of traditional medicine further.

Earlier, the Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, Bahram Einollahi, said at the closing ceremony of the second national festival on Iranian traditional medicine that 17 traditional medicine products had been permitted for the treatment, nine of which had entered the market.
