Tehran(IP)- Iran’s foreign minister said that the root of all Afghanistan’s problems lies in foreigners’ intervention in the country.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at the Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighboring Countries on Wednesday morning in Tehran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called the aim of the meeting as focusing on the current situation in Afghanistan.

"Many of Afghanistan's current problems are rooted in foreign intervention, and the United States must loudly acknowledge its responsibility for the atrocities it has caused in Afghanistan over the past two decades, in return for the great Afghan nation emerging from its challenges," he said. And the people of this country should take serious measures along with the international community's efforts and accept their responsibility in this regard explicitly.

Amir-Abdollahian highlighted that we do support forming an inclusive government, adding that the security of the citizens must be provided through the current government.

Iran’s foreign minister noted that all of us should help Afghanistan, though Iran’s policy is not interfering in other countries' issues.

"The US must take the responsibility of its role in Afghanistan in the last two decades and take serious steps to alleviate Afghans’ pain, "he concluded.

We hope to send common message to international community about Afghanistan

The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that the responsibility for the security of the citizens and borders of Afghanistan lies primarily with the governing body in Kabul, and said: "We hope to be able to send a common message to the international community and the countries of the region inside Afghanistan in today's meeting with a single voice."

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that overcoming the recent crisis in Afghanistan requires internal cohesion, utilization of all capacities, and utilization of Afghanistan's high talents. We believe that in the first place, all neighbors, and at the same time the international community, should pay special attention to the political and humanitarian situation, the spread of terrorism, drug trafficking, and respect for human and women's rights in the current situation in Afghanistan.

He added: "We know that the Americans and the US military left Afghanistan as a result of the struggle of the great people of Afghanistan."

The Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighboring Countries plus Russia kicked off in Tehran with the foreign ministers from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. The foreign ministers of Russia and China are also attending the meeting virtually.
