Iran Press/ Iran News: A faculty member of Allameh Tabataba'i University, Heybatollah Nejandimanesh said in the symposium that the cycle of violence must be stopped; otherwise, global issues would become more complicated.
Nejandimanesh considered the main problem the hypocrisy of those who advocated human rights but elsewhere encouraged extremism.
Also, Mansoureh Karami, a member of the board of the Association for the Defense of Victims of Terrorism, subjected the prevention of extremism to changing attitudes, a task that must be pursued by the United Nations globally.
David Swanson, peace and human rights activist who attended Tehran's symposium of ‘Roots of Violence and Extremism’ said: "Studies show that 95% of suicide attacks are motivated by an end to foreign occupation, if you do not want to see any more suicide terrorist attacks in the world, millions of people not killed in wars, the biggest refugee crisis in the history of mankind, you should know that these have a lot to do with the occupation of other parts of the world”.
Following the ceremony, several affected families of terror told their story of the roots of terrorism, saying that it was originated in the West for decades, and Western policymakers should be warned to avoid supporting terrorists by giving them asylum.
‘Roots of Violence and Extremism’ symposium was organized with the collaboration of Allameh Tabataba'i University, University of Tehran, and the Cultural Center of Nations.
