Thousands of National Guard troops and hundreds of law enforcement officers stationed on the Minneapolis area ahead of the upcoming trial of the former police officer charged in George Floyd's death

Iran Press/America: Leaders from Minneapolis and local and state law enforcement agencies have been beefing up security plans, preparing to close streets.

State and local officials spent the last eight months planning for what Gov. Tim Walz called the "most important trial in the country".

Floyd, a Black man, died last May after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed a knee on his neck as Floyd repeatedly said, “I can’t breathe.” His death launched massive, worldwide protests against police brutality and racism.

Derek Chauvin, is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter and will be tried separately from three other former officers accused in Floyd's death. 101
