Iranian deputy FM stresses Tehran's determination to hold regional talks

Tehran (IP) - During a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen Martin Griffiths, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's determination to hold regional talks aimed at establishing peace, stability and development in the region.

Iran PressIran News: Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen during his visit to Tehran, Martin Griffiths met with Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi on Monday (today).

During the meeting, issues and developments in the Persian Gulf region, including Yemen, were discussed.

"From the beginning of the crisis, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always believed that there is no military solution to Yemen crisis and the way out of the current crisis is to stop the war, lift the siege and hold political talks," Araqchi said. He stressed the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hold regional talks in order to establish peace, stability and development in the region.

Stressing the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in helping to establish peace in Yemen, Griffiths, explained the UN measures for peace, saying: "Now, the immediate priority is to establish a ceasefire and lift the current restrictions, so that humanitarian actions can begin and the political process can resume." 

Martin Griffiths arrived in Tehran on Monday to consult with Iranian officials on resolving the Yemeni crisis.
