Tehran (IP) - Iran's president said the verdict of the Hague Tribunal is a sign of the power and greatness of the Iranian nation against a superpower like the United States.

Iran Press/Iran News: Referring to the ruling of the Hague Tribunal on Iran's complaint against the United States, Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday: "While the enemies wanted to draw dark days for Iran, we have good news that is important for all of us."

He added: "The government has achieved great success in the Hague Tribunal, and this is the second victory that the government achieved in the International Court of Justice in the Hague against the United States.

"At the International Court of Justice in the Hague, the temporary verdict of the international court was for the United States to lift all sanctions on human rights immediately, but the United States did not do anything in this regard," Rouhani said.

Rouhani called the verdict a great success for Iran.

He made the remarks in the inauguration of five industrial macro projects of Iran Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade in Zanjan Province on Thursday via video conferencing.

The UN’s high court said Wednesday it has the jurisdiction to rule on a bid by Iran to overturn US sanctions that were reinstated during former President Donald Trump’s administration.

“The Court finds that it has jurisdiction -- of the Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights of 1955 -- to entertain the application filed by the Islamic Republic of Iran on 16 July 2018 and that the said application is admissible,” the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said in a statement.
